Konstantina Polychronopoulou
Bio
Born in Athens. She is a doctoral candidate in the artistic-scholarly doctoral program at Anton Bruckner University, in Austria. She holds a master’s degree in "Science of Education-Music Education" from the University of Nicosia, (MMus in Music Education). Under a full scholarship, she graduated Cum laude from the Hellenic American University with a BM in Music Theory and Composition, studying under Professor Th. Antoniou.
Konstantina has a piano diploma, which she completed with honors and praise for best performance. She studied piano with professors B. Pincetic and M. Kollarou and attended piano seminars with A. Kemenes, A. Nillson and M. Jacobs. Furthermore, she holds Harmony and Counterpoint Diplomas with Professor G. Kyriakakis.
Her studies included piano and chamber music lessons in Sweden at the Malmo Music Academy and she has participated in piano seminars, music composition, voice, musical improvisation, vocal music therapy, and music therapy since. At the same time, she has worked in theater as an actress taking acting and kinesiology lessons (Grotowski method) with professors A. Lyras, V. Laggos, and theatrical game with Y. Petsopoulos.
She is an adjunct faculty member teaching in the BM program at the Hellenic American University. She teaches piano at Ph. Nakas Conservatory since 2014. Furthermore, she is a piano and theory teacher at ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). She teaches also music theory and history at professional dance schools since 2013.
As a music teacher, she teaches theory and history music to dance students mainly through movement (Dancing Behind the Music) creating original short choreographies with them (ΑVDP 9 festival, 7th Conference of the Greek Society for Music Education-Thessaloniki concert Hall, Internationally Dance Day 2014 Megaron The Athens Concert Hall, Dance Days Chania 7, etc.). In June 2019, she created the musical performance LINK with dancer L. Gkolia — a personal production that combined music and dance based on the principles of music composition — and in April 2024, she presented imPulse with dancers E. Pantelaki, I. Riga, and M. Tsapekou.
In January 2022, her book Music and Body, a musical handbook for student dancers and performers was published by Nasos Publications.
She regularly collaborates in chamber music concerts and her musical compositions have been presented in various venues in Greece such as the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, Hellenic American Union, Archaeological Museum, Athens Conservatory Athenaeum, among others, and abroad in Germany, France, Croatia, etc, by renowned ensembles (Aeolos Woodwind Quintet, String Quartet L’anima, Hellenic Group of Contemporary Music, etc.). She composes music for choreographies and video dances by acclaimed choreographers, A. Kanellopoulou, A. Lindahl Dimitriadou, A. Stavropoulos, L. Gkolia, I. Karounis, S. Falierou, F. Apostolou, M. Manoukian, etc., which have been presented at festivals (Grimm Knot Festival, Music In Motion Festival, Perpignan Arts Festival, Malta International Arts Festival, 7th, 9th Athens VideoDance Project, 15thDance Festival Choreographers Greek-Cacoyannis Foundation, Off Europa Kunst Festival, 11th Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, 7th - 10th -11th Dance Days Chania, Akropoditi Dance Festival, 13th Arc For Dance Festival, Aerowaves, 27th Kalamata Dance Festival, Istanbul Fringe Festival, Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi, 2023 Eleusis, All of Greece One Culture 2024-2025, tc.).
In September 2024, her minimalistic piano pieces AFFECTION were published by NakasPublications.
Her significant commissioned work includes the ISSEY MIYAKE CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN (2025), a collaboration featuring her composition alongside Graphic Design/Video by Philippe Apeloig, which premiered in November 2025.
